… arrived at 4:12 this morning. My brother and sister-in-law have a new son, and I have a new nephew.
Junior’s big sister will celebrate her 1st birthday this coming Sunday, lol. Irish twins, anyone?
The docs think he was about 3 weeks early. SIL doesn’t think so, and I tend to agree with her. He weighed just shy of 8 pounds, was 20 inches long and fully developed – I can’t imagine how big he’d have been had her water not broken and she’d gone until the Sept. 3 scheduled C-section!
SIL has had a couple of complications, but she’s fine. To give her a little time to rest, and to spread out the visits a little bit, hubby, the girls and I will wait until tomorrow evening to go meet Junior. (and no, his name isn’t really junior, though he shares a first name with his proud daddy).
The other addition to our own family we brought home last weekend, after a nice but too brief vacation in PA. His name is Riley, and he’s a giant, fluffy orange and white cat. I do mean giant. He looks like a small dog – he’s 2 feet long from his nose to his rear, with another foot added for his tail. Our affectionate name for him is “Catzilla” – though for more than just his size. We’re not sure if we’re going to be able to keep him, though he is a beautiful cat to look at and has a great amount of personality, as he also seems to have a behavior issue. He’s bitten Peanut three times now, with no provocation – she just happened to be walking by where he was. The last time, he left four pinprick marks in her leg at the back of her knee. He intimidates Princess, and has tried to act up to hubby. We adopted him from someone who is moving and couldn’t take him with her. He used to bite her, too, though we were under the impression it was only when he wanted to go outside. So, we’ll see. I decided that we’ll give it a month to see how he adjusts, unless his misbehaving continues. We’re going to get a couple of water bottles to keep on hand for if he acts up. (His previous owner took him to a pet psychologist, who recommended he be given prozac, so that’s always an option, though I never thought I’d see the day I’d buy something like that for a cat!)
