… well, as far as the house goes anyway. I’m not getting anywhere that involves driving today, which means no school for the girls and no work for me, as my car won’t start. I had to leave it in a Sam’s parking lot yesterday until someone could give me a jump start. Once it is going, it is fine – it’s just a problem after I have to shut it off. I believe I need a new battery for my car. The problem is getting it somewhere to have it installed. Of course, auto makers being auto makers, they’ve made it as difficult as possible for a person to change the battery themselves. It’s a labor-intensive task (as far as replacing car batteries goes), and has to be done via the wheel well, as far as I can tell from looking at it. One of my brothers said he might be able to do it, but I don’t know if he can do it soon, or if it will have to wait until the weekend. It’s a tad frustrating, but it could be worse (*knock wood*), so I’m not going to complain too much.
Since I’m home today, though, I have been spending some time trying to get a bit of stuff unpacked. My objective today is to get the kitchen situated. I have to wait for another brother to help me change out the stove that was here (and which is icky and doesn’t work) with my gas range, but in the meantime, I can get all of the food and pots and pans and dishes put away. My electric wok and crockpot have come in quite handy in the meantime!
If any of you who are in my area know of someone who does electrical work (husband, friend, brother, whatever!), and is willing to take small jobs, I still need to have a 220 outlet installed so I can hook up my dryer, and 4 standard outlets put in the kids’ playroom. The guy we had doing our work is unavailable now, and our laundry is really starting to pile up. It’s a crying shame that we’ve got a nice washer and dryer just sitting there.
Okay, back to work for me. I have more to write, but it will have to wait a bit. ttfn!
