Not much new here… June 20, 2006

The girls stayed over at my mom’s last night. Instead of doing housework like I should have, especially the dishes, which are piled up, I read two books, and watched TV. The “season premiere” of History Detectives was last night on PBS. We really like that show – very interesting. Since the girls were gone, and it was quiet enough we could think and talk without interruption, hubby and I did spend some time discussing things like health insurance, and our limited finances, whoo-hoo. (*cue sarcasm*)

I woke up at the usual “get up to get ready for school” time this morning. Instead of lazing about in bed, I got up and did a bit of work. Sorted some more things for the yard sale, cleaned the hallway and hubby’s bathroom. The maintenance man told me yesterday he was going to try to start working on that bathroom today – the toilet is going to fall through the floor one of these days, and the faucet in the tub is running almost like it is turned on. We’ve been waiting for half a year, at least, for him to be able to work on it. It needs to be done, but it figures that it will happen shortly before we are likely going to have to move. *rolls eyes* Such is the way of it. At least, if he gets it done, and we end up staying… *shrug*

I’m having breakfast now, and waiting for the girls to get home. It really is too quiet after a while when they’re gone.

Hubby and I went to see Wicked last night. I was tired, and it was stuffy in the theater, but I really enjoyed the show. It has been a long time since we’ve been out together to anything other than dinner and a movie, which made it even more special. The best part was that the tickets were free. Good seats, too, main floor center, 19 rows back. Neither of us had read the book, and there wasn’t a synopsis in the playbill, so we didn’t really know what to expect. I think that was a good thing. It meant we were surprised (pleasantly) by some parts of the story, and enjoyed the ending even more, I think, because we didn’t know it was coming.

The class party went well, too. I was glad – and the kids really seemed to enjoy themselves. :)

Everyone is really tired and cranky today, me included, though I’m doing my best to not be overly crabby, lol. I’m getting old – just can’t take the late nights anymore. Of course, that wasn’t helped by lack of sleep the few days prior to, and all of the hard work I’ve been doing lately – all the moving, sorting and packing I’ve been doing is very physical work, and it catches up to me once in a while. At least I know I still have some muscles in there somewhere. :)

What a long weekend, followed by a busy busy workday yesterday. We did so much work in just a couple of days I can’t even tell you all of it. We cleaned out half of the attic, sorted through all of that stuff, as well as our regular storage unit. The one we rented until the yard sale is now very nearly full (including several bags of stuffed animals, sheesh). Packed away (finally) all the winter clothes, got out the summer clothes. Sorted out things that didn’t fit to go to the yard sale. The back of my van is full of things to go out to storage. We put up the computer desk we got yard sale-ing and put the computer we also picked up yard sale-ing out in the hall where I used to have my desk. The girls, needless to say, are thrilled. :) I still have Peanut’s things to put away, and some other things to pack up, but at least we made a good sized dent.

It looks like the people who put the deposit down are taking the place. We still have no real idea what they plan to do, as far as our jobs (or my apartment). Hopefully we’ll know one way or the other sooner rather than later.

We have a busy week ahead of us too, though some of it will be fun rather than work. I’m throwing a “beach” party for Princess’s class on Thursday, so will be finalizing things for that tonight and tomorrow, as well as getting some housework done, so that I won’t be completely embarassed when the babysitter gets here Thursday night. What do we need a babysitter for? Well, that’s part of the fun. One of the VP’s at hubby’s work gave him main floor tix to Wicked, whoo-hoo. Even gave him money to cover parking, wasn’t that nice? So, hubby and I are going to get dressed up and go to the theater together. Imagine that! :) We’ve been to the symphony together many, many times, and to the opera once (when we went to see a friend perform – every other time I’ve been, it’s been to see hubby, so I’ve gone with whoever would go with me). So, it will be especially nice for us. I’m looking forward to it, though I know I will be very tired by the end of that full day. Friday, Princess only has a half day of school, then she will be done for the summer. I can’t believe she is nearly done with Third Grade already. *eek*

I’ve gotten addicted to a new game, called “Slingo” – which is just what it sounds like. A combination of slots and bingo. When I went to the office store to get yard sale supplies, I bought the game for myself, since I was using a giftcard left over from my bday, I figured it was only fair, lol.

Well, I need to go get ready to get Princess from school. Have a good one.

I’ve been busy, as usual. Trying to get housework done, planning the end of the year party for Princess’s class, that sort of thing. I did take time to do some reading last night – read Meg Cabot’s “All American Girl” which was rather sweet, and very funny.

There is more I want to post, and hopefully I will get to it this weekend. Mostly, I just wanted to point you toward my music page, where I’ve posted some more song lyrics. *wink*

… a song is never just a song.

Crazy
Gnarls Barkley

I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place.
Even your emotions had an echo
In so much space

And when you’re out there
Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn’t because I didn’t know enough
I just knew too much

Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Possibly

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that’s my only advice

Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are,
Ha ha ha
bless your soul
You really think you’re in control

Well, I think you’re crazy
I think you’re crazy
I think you’re crazy
Just like me

My heroes had the heart to
Lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I want to be like them
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it’s no coincidence I’ve come
And I can die when I’m done

Maybe I’m crazy
Maybe you’re crazy
Maybe we’re crazy
Possibly
